ADAMS EXPECTING ‘DIFFERENT’ BARROW OUTFIT

16 September 2021

Derek Adams is expecting the Bantams to come up against a “different” Barrow side - ahead of their meeting on Saturday afternoon.

City will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten home league start when they face the Bluebirds at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

Adams is anticipating the visitors will play a more expansive style of football compared to last season, and believes it is up to his players to make the most of the opportunities which will come for his players as a result of this.

He said: “Like plenty of teams in this division, Barrow have changed personnel and play in a slightly different way to how they did last season.

“They have changed their shape and are much more open now.

“They have played attacking football in most of their games early on in the campaign, and we are expecting the same from them again.

“They will try and push us back, but it is then up to us to find the space they leave in behind.”

Adams also took time to reflect on City’s recent frustrations in front of goal.

However, the Scotsman is confident the goals and results will start to come again, should the team continue to create opportunities.

He added: “The only thing that has not been going for us recently is scoring goals.

“As a manager, you always look at formation and tactics to set up your team in order to create more chances than the opposition.

“We have done this in nearly every game this season which shows the attacking force we are.

“We have created enough opportunities to win matches but, unfortunately, have not taken them. We need to start taking chances when they come along.”
