BANTAMS ON AIR WITH BBC RADIO LEEDS

1 September 2020

BBC Radio Leeds has agreed a new and improved three-year partnership, which will see their coverage of Bradford City fixtures return for the 2020/21 campaign and beyond.

The agreement will enable City’s official broadcast partner to deliver coverage of league and cup fixtures via AM and - as often as possible - FM throughout the region.

City officials have been in close communication with the BBC Radio Leeds team over the course of the summer, working to enhance and improve the service and offering for supporters.

And, with COVID-19 restrictions set to affect attendances and impact on the potential to watch live fixtures at the Utilita Energy Stadium during the 2020/21 campaign, this has been a high priority in a bid to develop the listener’s experience.

West Yorkshire Sport Daily’s reporting of all things Bradford City will also continue, with both the club and broadcaster keen to bring coverage of games to the FM frequency as often as possible.

City’s iFollow commentary will also be provided by BBC Radio Leeds, as former Bantam Andy Kiwomya lines up alongside new lead commentator, Jamie Raynor.

BBC Radio Leeds’ sports editor, Jonathan Buchan, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our relationship with the Bantams for the next three years as they, hopefully, begin to climb back up the leagues.

“During these difficult times, we know many City fans will be heavily reliant on our coverage, and we really appreciate every single one of you who tunes into our matchday shows.

“Every single game will be on 774MW but we hope our aim to put games on 92.4FM as many times as possible shows we have listened to concerns and are attempting to provide the best coverage possible.

“Remember, you can have your say on all things Bradford City after the game - by calling 0800 389 33 33, texting 81333 and tweeting @BBCWYS.”

City’s director of communications and commercial, Ryan Sparks, added: “We hugely value our relationship with BBC Radio Leeds and have been working hard in recent months to take it to another level.

“We are delighted to have agreed a longer-term partnership, meaning the broadcast and overall service on offer can be further developed and improved as the season progresses.

“Constructive feedback is something we welcome and I fully understand the desire to get the Bantams back on FM. We are pleased to say we will certainly feature on 92.4FM fairly frequently next season, which I am sure our supporters will be happy to hear.

“We are looking forward to now forging a successful partnership with BBC Radio Leeds, as we approach a season like no other - where access is set to be limited and therefore very important to City fans far and wide.”

Supporters can tune into BBC Radio Leeds’ Bradford City coverage on 92.4 and 95.3FM, 774MW and online via BBC Sounds.
