City centurion Anthony O’Connor was pleased with his side's approach, performance and result - following a 7-0 Emirates FA Cup victory over Tonbridge Angels.

The defender opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the tie, with the Bantams then adding six further goals as they cruised into the second round.

O’Connor felt Stuart McCall's men went about their business professionally and treat the encounter like any other, in order to get the job done.

He said: “It is nice to win any game of football, no matter who you are against.

“People probably looked at it and thought it was a potential banana skin, but we remained focused on getting the job done and treating it like any other contest.

“We are really pleased with the performance but, on the other hand, we cannot afford to get carried away.

“You can only beat what is put in front of you. No game is a straightforward one and Tonbridge were not easy.

“Our attitudes and the way we approached the match maybe made it look simpler than it was.”

O’Connor spoke of his pride at having made his 100th appearance in claret and amber, and how this was made sweeter with his first goal of the season.

The Irishman admitted the milestone was a significant one for him and hopes getting on the scoresheet can trigger more goals for him this season.

The 28-year-old added: “Making my 100th appearance for the club is something I am very proud of.

“I have always strived to play in as many games as possible. I want to be fit every week and put myself forward to play in all matches.

“It was nice to chip in with a goal and help the team in that way. I have been looking to score for quite a while now so hopefully I will have more to come throughout the season.

“Hopefully, I can appear in plenty more games this season and then we can see how many further appearances I can make in the future.”

O'Connor and his team-mates return to action in the Papa John's Trophy with a 7.30pm visit of Oldham Athletic on Tuesday (November 10). CLICK HERE to purchase an iFollow video match pass, and ensure you do not miss a minute of the action.
