Stuart McCall has spoken of his determination to progress to round three of the Emirates FA Cup, ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Oldham Athletic.
McCall welcomes the Latics on the back of signing a new one-year contract extension, following Ryan Sparks’ appointment as the club’s chief executive officer.
The Bantams boss is looking forward to what he anticipates could be another entertaining game, having reflected on Tuesday evening’s defeat to Oldham Athletic.
He said: "We spoke straight after the Leyton Orient game about how we wanted to get going again immediately - and how we are looking forward to trying to book our place in the next round.
"It could be another open, exciting game, and we are focussed on another solid performance - with a good balance of being solid at the back and dangerous going forward.
“We looked strong in defence on Tuesday for the most part, so need to keep that, and were good going forward against Exeter. It is about finding a middle ground between the two.”
Having penned a contract extension alongside assistant Kenny Black, the City chief maintains a positive outlook on the future.
He insists he has long-term ambitions while in the dugout at the Utility Energy Stadium, and is already planning for what he hopes will be a “positive” future.
McCall added: “I would like to think the new contract gives us stability going forward. We know football is a results-based industry, and I have a long-term plan here and want to be successful.
“My overriding emotion is one of determination for the future. We cannot be negative in any way.
“Recruitment wise, we have to have a long-term strategy as well, and a long-term vision in terms of how we can look at players who we know will be a part of the club for a long time.
“There is no doubt that the results have not been what we would have liked but, as a football club, we are very much looking forward to the future.”
