BLACK READY TO CAUSE SALFORD PROBLEMS

20 November 2020

Kenny Black has called for the Bantams to cause Salford City problems - ahead of tomorrow’s trip to the Peninsula Stadium.

City travel to Lancashire on the back of two Sky Bet League Two games unbeaten, after a 2-0 defeat to Salford in the final game before last season’s curtailment.

Black admits the defeat does provide motivation ahead of tomorrow’s clash, but is more focussed on his side playing their own game and attacking their hosts.

He said: “We want to try and and have a go at whoever we are playing, whether we are at home or away.

“We know we have areas within our squad which can hurt Salford and we will be looking to do so.

“We know of their threats as well, and so it should make for another good game.

“Last season’s game there was frustrating with a capital ‘F’. We did not perform well at all, which we have to put right at the weekend.

“We will show them the respect they deserve but certainly go there and look to make our mark on the game and cause them problems.”

The Scot also spoke about the week away from an evening fixture his side has enjoyed, and how this has helped with regards to preparation for tomorrow’s game.

Black admitted he and Stuart McCall have been able to take a deeper look into analysis and tactics, while also giving players much-needed rest time.

The former Hearts midfielder added: “It has been great to have a full week to ourselves. We have benefited a lot, after a run of busy games.

“We can take our foot off the pedal a little bit with certain players and their workload - before we work towards another busy run of fixtures.

“It enables you to spend a lot more time with tactics and analysis, both looking forward and backwards.

“It helps in a lot of different departments. We have been able to look after the players a lot more and will be a lot stronger for it on Saturday.”
