BIG MATCH PREVIEW: SALFORD v CITY

20 November 2020

The Bantams travel to the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3.00pm) to take on Salford City in Sky Bet League Two.

Richie Wellens’ side sit 11th in the table - having won four, drawn four and lost three this season.

The Ammies have secured four promotions in five seasons since 'The Class of '92' took over - with the club gaining promotion to Sky Bet League Two through the National League Play-Offs in 2019, beating AFC Fylde 3-0 in the final.

We have put together a Big Match Preview full of all of the key information you will need ahead of the game.

TEAM NEWS

City: Stuart McCall will be boosted with the return of Levi Sutton who served the final of his three match ban against Exeter City last weekend.

Gareth Evans and Zeli Ismail are also in line to return from recent injuries, while Billy Clarke and Bryce Hosannah could pass late fitness tests.

Callum Cooke and Lee Novak are both expected to miss out, while Kurtis Guthrie will also not be fit in time. Midfielder Cooke was withdrawn at half-time against the Grecians.

Salford: The Ammies have some ex-Premier League players among their ranks. Darron Gibson and James Wilson both enjoyed spells at Manchester United.

George Boyd also played in the top flight, with Lancashire side Burnley. The experienced midfielder signed for Salford in the summer and has represented his country, Scotland, at international level.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Kenny Black (assistant manager): "It has been great to have a full week and we have benefited a lot, after a run of busy games.

"We want to try and go and have a go at whoever we are playing, whether we are at home or away.

"We know we have areas within our squad which can hurt Salford. We know of their threats as well and so it should make for another good game."

LAST TIME OUT

The Bantams fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Peninsula Stadium back in March. Ashley Hunter’s strikes handed Salford all three points in the final game of the 2019/20 campaign - prior to the curtailment.
