NEW eSPORTS BOSS JAMES DELIGHTED WITH START TO SEASON

10 May 2020

Bradford City eSports' new manager Gary James is delighted with the start he and his side has made to the virtual season.

The Bantams find themselves on on red-hot form, currently sitting six points clear at the top of the English eSports Premier League and also top of their eSports Champions League group.

James believes the results - coupled with the level of competition - speak volumes of how well his side have performed.

He said: "The standard in Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG) is very high with excellent FIFA players competing from all over the world.

"I have been very happy with how our side has performed - especially in recent weeks, since the start of the VPG English Premier League. We have made a blistering start to the campaign.

"I have really enjoyed being part of the Bradford City setup. It is a well-run club and this even shows in the eSports department, where I have had nothing but support since joining.

"Of course, it is always handy when results go so well and, now we have had time to bed in, we are really reaping the rewards.

"I would also like to say a huge 'well done' to our academy side on winning promotion this season. They have been excellent and real credit to the club.

"There is still a long way to go but our good start has been crucial."

Having taken the reigns at the club at the beginning of the term, James believes City's eSports side have been the beneficiary of new arrivals in personnel and a fresh virtual philosophy.

He added: "I feel my arrival has helped take the club an extra step forward.

"The team did really well last season, however the competitons we are in have now grown and the standard has become even higher - especially because of what is obviously going on in the world right now.

"When I took over. I did a complete revamp of the squad. Only Adam Patel - my co-manager - and last season's top scorer remain.

"Since the start of the VPG English Premier League, we have played some excellent attacking football - as you can see by our results - but have also been solid defensively.

"We take pride in performance at both ends of the pitch and look forward to rest of the season, where hope we can maintain this form."
