McCALL'S DREAM TEAM

30 March 2020

Stuart McCall is giving you the chance to win a signed 2020/21 home shirt - presented by the man himself!

The first person to correctly name McCall's City Dream Team will receive this fantastic prize.

The side consists of players the Bantams boss shared the pitch with at the Utilita Energy Stadium over his two spells - between 1982 and 1988, and 1998 and 2002.

From a 26-man shortlist, supporters must correctly guess McCall's dream starting 11 - selected in their correct positions - along with seven substitutes.

Selections must be made in a 4-4-2 formation.

The 26-man shortlist is as follows:

Eric McManus
Gary Walsh
Trevor Cherry
Stephen Wright
Peter Jackson
Andy O’Brien
John Dreyer
Dave Evans
Darren Moore
David Wetherall
Chris Withe
Wayne Jacobs
John Hendrie
Jamie Lawrence
Greg Abbott
Dean Windass
Mick Kennedy
Gareth Whalley
Mark Ellis
Peter Beagrie
Bobby Campbell
Lee Mills
Dean Saunders
John Hawley
Robbie Blake
Benito Carbone

On the competition, McCall said: "I was fortunate enough to spend 12 seasons as a Bradford City player, over two different spells, which included two promotions split between both periods.

"Over this time I played with some brilliant players, fantastic characters and loyal and committed team-mates.

"I have had great difficulty in, firstly, naming an initial squad of 26 players - leaving out some good players and team-mates - then cutting it down to an 18, which includes a starting 11 and seven substitutes.

"My squad is split with eight players from my first spell and 10 from my second, with just one defender featuring on a very attack-minded bench.

"This selection is based on who I believe have been the best players for City over my 12 years as a player, and not the best players over their entire careers.

"For example, Neville Southall was a world-class goalkeeper. He had a fantastic career - for Wales and Everton - but only played once for City.

"Likewise, good lads like Don Goodman and Ian Ormondroyd went on from their early beginnings here to have excellent careers.

"However, this selection is solely judged on performance, influence and impact while wearing the claret and amber.

"Out of the starting 11, only one player did not play in a promotion-winning side.

"Hopefully, you will enjoy looking back, reminiscing and remembering the successful times these players brought to our club - especially in this difficult and worrying situation we currently find ourselves in.

"Good luck!"

To enter, please send your starting 11 - in their positions - and substitutes bench in an e-mail to media@bradfordcityfc.co.uk

The competition will close at 5.00pm on Friday (April 3). All submissions must be made before this time in order to be valid. The first person to correctly guess McCall's Dream Team will win!
