CLUB STATEMENT: COVID-19

12 March 2020

Bradford City officials have moved to outline the club’s position as the number of reported cases of COVID-19 continues to rise in the United Kingdom.

Following this afternoon’s emergency COBRA meeting, further recommendations were made after the country entered the 'delay' phase. This is part of the government’s four-step plan to tackle the spread of the disease.

The latest government guidance states: Should you suffer from fever-like symptoms - such as developing a continuous cough or high temperature - you should stay at home and 'self-isolate' for SEVEN DAYS

The club will follow the government's advice on the outbreak of COVID-19 and will act in line with it.

Steps have been taken at the Utilita Energy Stadium - and at the club's Woodhouse Grove training facility - in an attempt to contain the spread of the disease as far as possible.

Doctors have consulted staff and players, offering direction as to how best to avoid contracting the virus.

In addition, further hand-sanitisation points have been installed and informative posters and guides are being displayed throughout the club's facilities.

The government advises individuals to wash their hands on a more regular basis - including when using the toilet, arriving at or leaving work, sneezing or coughing and eating or handling food.

It is also recommended to avoid touching your face where possible, though - if this becomes unavoidable - washing your hands is again necessary.

No further action will be taken by the club at this time, but we are continuing to monitor the situation and will work closely with the relevant governing bodies on the matter.

Saturday's Sky Bet League Two game at home to Leyton Orient will go ahead as planned.
