WOMEN FALL TO DURHAM DEFEAT

13 January 2020

Bradford City Women were unable to record back-to-back victories - falling 7-0 away at Durham Cestria.

Chris Hames' side had the confidence of a 10-2 victory over Thackley and a triumph over Durham in the return fixture, though were ultimately comprehensively beaten.

Despite beginning well and showing promise in the opening quarter of an hour, Durham broke the deadlock soon after.

The hosts then seemed to enter overdrive - taking a 4-0 lead into half-time, including a fortuitous City own goal.

The second half began badly for Hames' women who conceded again within five minutes of the restart - mainly thanks to a wicked deflection the Durham attacker's effort took off a Bantam.

Despite two substitutes injecting more energy into the visitors' play, Durham would go on to score a further pair of goals to complete the scoring.

The Bantams are back in action when hosting Brayton Belles in the quarter-final of the West Riding County Cup on Sunday (January 19, 3.00pm).
