SELLARS LOOKING FORWARD TO CHELSEA TEST

14 January 2020

Conor Sellars “cannot wait” for City’s Under-18s to test themselves against “one of the best sides in Europe” - when travelling to Chelsea tomorrow.

The young Bantams face the Blues in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, with action at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium set to get underway from 7.00pm.

City’s professional development phase link coach is pleased with the progression of the players so far, this campaign, and cannot wait to see them experience even more, in the capital.

Sellars said: “We are all really looking forward to it. The lads, coaches and everyone at the club cannot wait.

“It will be a really big test for us against a great side in a massive academy. They are one of the best sides in Europe, for sure.

“In youth football there is no better feeling than testing yourself against the best, which is certainly what we are up against.

“We have gained valuable experience so far in this season’s competition and are looking forward to carrying that on and hopefully creating more memories.

“The players are working really hard and we are feeling confident of being able to cause another upset.”

With a week off from action in the EFL Youth Alliance North East division, Sellars and the young Bantams have taken the opportunity to cram in extra preparation.

The former Middlesbrough midfielder knows to expect a difficult match and insists training has reflected this.

He added: “We put together a friendly against Barnsley last Friday in order to help prepare for the game.

“With no Youth Alliance fixture over the weekend we have been given a good opportunity to get as ready as possible - with a lot of time with the lads.

“We have been to see Chelsea live and watched them a few times, so know to expect a very tough game.

“But, the way the lads have gone about preparing has been great and we are ready for what will be a valuable experience.”

Supporters can PAY ON THE GATE at the EBB Stadium - with admission priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
