BOWYER EXPECTING ‘DIFFERENT’ MANSFIELD CHALLENGE

24 January 2020

Gary Bowyer is expecting his Bantams to be faced with a "different" side - ahead of their trip to Mansfield Town tomorrow (3.00pm).

City travel to the One Call Stadium having beaten the Stags 2-0 in the return fixture, just under a month ago.

However, with boss Graham Coughlan having been at the helm in Nottinghamshire less than two weeks prior to the first meeting, Bowyer expects a contrasting challenge in tomorrow’s clash.

The Bantams boss said: “Mansfield played a different system in their last game against Plymouth to the one they did against us, last time.

“Graham Coughlan will have had an opportunity to work with his players more since coming in and form a system a bit more.

“They are a good side whose position in the league is probably not fully warranted this season, on paper.

“They have some dangerous players who can hurt you and we expect a much different challenge, on Saturday.”

After an encouraging point on the road at in-form Colchester United on Tuesday, Bowyer insists his side is full of confidence ahead of their meeting with Coughlan’s men.

He has called for his players to draw positives from the midweek draw and continue building momentum in their trip south.

The City chief added: “Looking back at the Colchester game, we did well.

“We played some good football at times in the game and just lacked the final pass, in areas.

“It was an entertaining, tactical game with two good sides probably balancing each other out, in the end.

“We are buoyed by the performance against Colcheter and the fact we still only have one defeat in our past 11 matches - ahead of the game against Mansfield.”
