BIG MATCH PREVIEW: SWINDON v CITY

3 January 2020

The Bantams make their first away trip of the new decade tomorrow, travelling to high-flying Swindon Town.

Gary Bowyer's side will be looking to go eight games unbeaten in the 3.00pm clash, while recording their third-consecutive victory.

The Robins have enjoyed a strong start to the 2019/20 campaign, currently sitting two points clear at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.

Richie Wellens' men will be hoping to build on last season's return, after a 13th-place finish in the fourth tier.

We have compiled a Big Match Preview full of in-depth pre-match analysis - ahead of the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Gary Bowyer could name an unchanged starting 11 for the third-consecutive game, after home victories over Mansfield Town and Morecambe.

Aramide Oteh and Zeli Ismail could be pushing for starts, after impressing from the substitutes bench against the Shrimps.

Jamie Devitt is nearing match-fitness, while Bowyer will be hoping Harry Pritchard and Kelvin Mellor will be nearing their returns from injury.

Swindon: Jermaine McGlashan and Toumani Diagouraga will play no part for Swindon, after their contracts were cancelled by mutual consent.

Diallang Jaiyesimi could keep his starting place after starring and scoring in the Robins' 2-1 win at Plymouth Argyle, last time out, while right-back Paul Caddis could face his former side.

Richie Wellens' men, however, will be without the services of top scorer Eoin Doyle, as the striker - on loan from the Bantams - is unable to face his parent club.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Gary Bowyer: "It is going to be a good game. Swindon are a strong side who play good football.

"The biggest challenge for them, this season, will be to keep hold of their manager, because Richie Wellens has done a brilliant job since he has been there and is very highly thought of.

"We have got to make sure we recover well and get ready for what will hopefully be a really good game of football - on a good pitch."

LAST TIME OUT

The return fixture, in October, saw the Bantams record their third-straight home league win, overcoming Swindon 2-1.

Goals from Hope Akpan and Shay McCartan proved enough to seal victory for City, seeing them climb back into the Sky Bet League Two play-off positions.
