YOUNG BANTAMS LOSE OUT AT SCUNTHORPE

4 February 2020

City’s Under-18s were unable to maintain their winning form, falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe United.

After a tough encounter for both sides, the Iron were able to snatch all three points late on as Levi Gallimore poached home in the 89th minute.

Despite the young Bantams creating numerous chances in the first-half, it was the home side who drew first blood - on the stroke of half-time.

Midfielder Dan Gallimore found some space outside the area, before opening up his body and slotting the ball into the bottom corner - making it 1-0.

Nevertheless, Trueman’s young Bantams recovered from the setback - courtesy of Harvey Rowe.

The defender worked some space outside the box before smashing the ball home - on the 61st minute-mark.

Despite equalising, City were unable to hold out as Tony Daws' men struck another home - with two minutes left on the clock.

Levi Gallimore peeled off his marking man before guiding Oliver Lobley’s cross home - to steal all three points.

The Bantams had a couple of chances to pull it back in the dying embers of the game, but were unable to convert as the away side left empty handed.
