WOMEN PEGGED BACK TO CHESTER LE STREET DRAW

4 February 2020

Bradford City Women were dramatically held to a 2-2 draw at home to Chester le Street.

Two late penalties were to deny the female Bantams, after taking the lead twice in the affair.

With players again missing for City, they faced a battle, but went in at the break 1-0 up after a 45 minutes of few chances.

It was Monika Stube who struck 26 minutes in - after being the beneficiary of a neat lay-off - to give her side a deserved lead.

City hung on until the final 10 minutes when the visitors hit back after a rebound from a penalty was bundled home.

Within a couple of minutes, however, Chris Hames’ side had reacted and re-took the initiative, when Amelia Hunt volleyed a teasing Ellie Prothero cross home at the near post.

The drama has not finished though as, in the final minute, City were pegged back yet again with another penalty from the away side stealing a share of the spoils.

CITY: Routledge; Woodcock, Roberts ©, Sales, Prothero; Norde, Willoughby, Hunt, Stuart; Stube, Durrant. Sub: Sandford.
