CITY FALL TO OLDHAM DEFEAT

1 February 2020

City fell to a 3-0 defeat at Boundary Park, losing out to Oldham Athletic.

After a delayed kick-off, three first-half goals sealed the points for the Latics, as the Bantams came away empty-handed.

Oldham got the game underway with the first goal of the encounter- in the 11th minute.

Zachary Dearnley was gifted possession before finessing the ball past Richard O’Donnell - to take the lead.

Nine minutes later and Oldham made it two - courtesy of Jonny Smith.

The attacker worked some space outside the box before lashing it into the bottom corner.

Gary Bowyer’s Bantams had an opportunity to pull a goal back - through Clayton Donaldson.

The City captain tried to guide Dylan Connolly’s cross in but could not convert as the ball skewed wide in the 41st minute.

Despite the chance, Oldham soon made it three, as first-half substitute Mohammad Maouche slid the ball in - on the 45th minute mark.

As the second-half progressed, Dino Maamria’s men had three opportunities to grab their fourth in quick succession, but were denied as O’Donnell kept the home side at bay.

The Bantams pushed to conjure a couple of chances late on but none came to any avail as the home side secured the victory.
