TURNBULL APPOINTED RECRUITMENT DIRECTOR

28 December 2020

Bradford City has appointed Lee Turnbull as the club’s new recruitment director.

Turnbull has been working with the club - at the Utilita Energy Stadium - for a number of weeks, as the Bantams look to further strengthen their off-field structure.

The 53-year-old has notably enjoyed spells in similar roles at Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United and Oldham Athletic, after managing Barrow between 2003 and 2005.

Having started at Middlesbrough, Turnbull’s playing career saw him turn out for the likes of Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield - during the 1980s, 90s and 2000s.

He said: “I am really excited to be here. It is a massive club and where it is at the moment is probably not reflective of its stature.

“A lot of hard work has already been done to set up a robust recruitment department, put a scouting network and database of players in place and get Bradford City moving forward.

“We must get recruitment right and ensure the dynamic of the players we have is exactly what we need, to ensure we can get back to where we should be.”

City’s chief executive officer, Ryan Sparks, added: “Lee has been a great addition for us, and we are really pleased to have him on board.

“He has been working closely with Mark Trueman, Conor Sellars and myself - along with our analysts - for some time now, ensuring we are as ready as we can be for what lies ahead.

“Lee’s expertise and knowledge of the game will only enhance our ability to recruit and build a squad which supporters can continue to relate to and get behind.

“The January transfer window is an important one for us, as is always the case, and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring we are in a stronger place, come February 1.”
