TRUEMAN FOCUSED AHEAD OF CRAWLEY CLASH

15 December 2020

Caretaker manager Mark Trueman insists he and the City squad are “fully focused” on turning their form - ahead of this evening’s meeting with Crawley Town.

The Bantams travel to The People’s Pension Stadium with Trueman and Conor Sellars in temporary charge of the first team, after parting company with Stuart McCall on Sunday.

Despite the period of change and a busy past few days, Trueman re-iterated that all his concentration was on the task at hand.

He said: “Receiving the news on Sunday, we had to get our work in on Crawley straight away and look at how we can help this group of players.

“We are not in a good position at all, but all my focus can be on is going down to Crawley and trying to get a result.

“We cannot afford to look any further than Tuesday night, and have to make sure the players and staff put all their focus into performing well and winning.

“We want to be competitive and have to show the desire to compete. I want to see exactly what the supporters want to see, from the players.”

Following McCall’s departure, Trueman hopes a change of surroundings for the Bantams will work in their favour.

While confessing his confidence in the group of players at his disposal, he is looking for the side to approach Crawley as they would prepare for any other encounter.

Trueman added: “In terms of the players’ preparations, it is exactly the same. They were always going to have this game coming up.

“They were disappointed when they heard the news, but they have a job to do, and we all need to make sure we go to Crawley and put a shift in. Hopefully, a different voice on the training pitch might be refreshing for some of them.

“We have some good footballers who play some really good stuff, which I know the gaffer tried to get across with his style of play.

“It is now about trying to get the best out of these players and motivate them as much as possible to try and perform at Crawley.”
