Match-winner Paudie O’Connor believes a "strong" performance saw City deservedly take all three points in Saturday’s triumph over Northampton Town.

A goal down at the interval, Gary Bowyer’s men showed admirable character to clinch two late goals, including O’Connor’s 88th-minute winner - his second in as many games.

The Irishman was delighted to get back to winning ways, insisting the Bantams’ second-half showing made them worthy victors.

The defender said: "Everyone was over the moon with the three points. It was great to get back on track and was a huge relief, on the back of two defeats.

"We were disappointed heading into half-time. We felt we did not deserve to be behind, based on how well we were playing.

"We had not taken our chances well enough and spoke - during the break - about being relentless in keeping the pressure on them.

"We approached the second half well - getting a lot of crosses into the box and obviously scoring two goals to win the match."

The 22-year-old has been impressed by the effect Harry Pritchard, Zeli Ismail and Dylan Connolly have had on the side, since arriving at the club.

Both City’s goals against the Cobblers came from wide positions and O’Connor was full of praise for how City’s wing recruits have added to the Bantams' attacking threat.

He added: "We have a lot of options out wide with lads like Zeli, Dylan and Pritch who have all done really well since coming in.

"Players like them have allowed us to showcase our ability as a team a lot more over the past few weeks. Those players really showed their capabilities.

"They are all experienced professionals - despite still being relatively young - and have made a real difference.

"We have been lacking in that department a bit over the past few weeks and it is encouraging to see us adding different dimensions to our game.”

O’Connor will be looking to continue his rich vein of form in Saturday’s trip to Walsall (kick off 3.00pm). CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
