Gary Bowyer hailed his Bantams’ attacking enterprise, as they returned to winning ways with a 3-1 triumph over Carlisle United.

After falling behind inside the opening quarter of an hour, Bowyer’s men fought back to return into the Sky Bet League Two play-off places.

The City boss was delighted with the character and response shown, scoring three goals of their own to wrap up the points.

He said: "We started the game well, passed the ball better than we have all season and caused Carlisle all sorts of problems.

"We want to stay on the front foot and try score as many goals as we can, to win games.

"If we do not invite the opposition in, we will not present them with opportunities to score.

"It was always our intention to get the third goal and win convincingly. The positive mindset always keeps us hungry to do the best we can.

"However, if we settled for the result we had, it would have invited more pressure and put us in jeapordy. I do not like that attitude."

In addition to the win and positive, attacking showing, the Bantams boss also reiterated his satisfaction in the depth among his ranks.

Bowyer praised the effort and attitude of all his players, insisting the competition within his squad will reap its rewards over the course of the campaign.

"The depth we have in the squad, at the minute, is very impressive," added the City chief.

"It was hard to leave Jermaine Anderson out today after he scored and played well, at Cheltenham.

"However, that tells you all you all you need to know about the strength we have, this season.

"Hopefully, that continues this year, because we need as much healthy competition as we can get.

"We also owe credit to the lads who have not been playing recently, with the attitude they demonstrate in training.

"We are going to need everyone in the squad, this season, and the competition is great."

Bowyer's men return to action this Tuesday, hosting Manchester City Under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy (7.30pm). Supporters are asked to PAY ON THE GATE.
