BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v CARLISLE

20 September 2019

After two consecutive away matches, the Bantams return home on Saturday, welcoming Carlisle United to the Utilita Energy Stadium.

Gary Bowyer's men will be looking to bounce back in the 3.00pm contest, after a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Cheltenham Town on Tuesdsay night.

The Cumbrians have experienced a challenging start to the 2019/20 campaign and currently sit 17th in the league table.

The Brunton Park outfit will be hoping to build on an 11th-placed finish in the fourth tier, last season.

We have compiled a Big Match Preview full of in-depth pre-match analysis - ahead of this encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Gary Bowyer could again shuffle his pack after making two changes to his starting 11 at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, in midweek.

Zeli Ismail and Callum Cooke could be pushing for their first City starts, with the pair nearing full match fitness.

The City boss, however, is still unable to call on injured trio Jamie Devitt, Jordan Gibson and Jake Reeves, with Joe Riley a long-term absentee.

Carlisle: Visiting boss Steven Pressley could opt for a similar line-up to the one which drew 0-0 with Forest Green Rovers, last time out.

The Scotsman could choose to select midfielder Candice Carroll - on loan from Brentford - who is back in contention following an ankle injury.

Former Bantam Nathaniel Knight-Percival could appear aganist his former side, upon his return to the Utilita Energy Stadium.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Gary Bowyer: "Carlisle are a good team with some good players.

"They carry a huge threat at top end of pitch and have a good manager who has done it at this level, and higher.

"It will be another tough challenge, one which we will have to find a solution to."

Steven Pressley: "It is a big stadium and I am sure we will have good travelling support.

"Based on what we know, we will be facing a far more direct team and we have to show our resilience against that.

"We go into it with two away wins, so we have to show confidence and I know we all feel we can come away with another good victory."
