APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMME

23 September 2019

Applications for the Bantams' community foundation education programmes are still open, presenting exciting new opportunities for potential scholars.

The scholarships are open to those aged 16-18 years, offering school leavers the chance to further their education in a professional, footballing environment.

And, from this September, scholars have the opportunity to study at the Utilita Energy Stadium, with education based in the venue's Bantams Bar.

The foundation run differing types of scholarships to suit different individuals.

Ability-based schemes focus on potential professional footballers who may have slipped through the grasp of various local academies.

These scholars compete in the National Football Youth League (where City defender Ben Richards-Everton begun his career), the highest standard outside the academy system.

Other scholarships cater for all abilities, with particpants competing against similarly run programmes at other professional clubs, in leagues organised by the EFL.

Other education-based programmes mix study with football, offering an enterprising alternative to college or sixth form while working towards a career in sport.

All scholars train three times a week and play matches every Wednesday, while studying for a BTEC Level 2 (12 months) or 3 (24 months) Extended Diploma in Sport.

All coaching sessions are delivered by community foundation coaches who are qualified to a minumum of UEFA B License standard.

This fantastic opportunity can lead to full-time employment, scholarships abroad or higher education at university level.

Ian Ormondroyd, the Bantams' community foundation chief executive, said: "The scholarship programme has grown massively over the past 12 months.

"The number of scholars attracted to the club has sky-rocketed however, just as importantly, the quality and range of scholarships we can offer has drastically improved.

"We now have scholarships available for elite footballers through to those that simply love the sport and want a career in this industry."
