TAYLOR UNABLE TO COMPLETE CITY MOVE

23 October 2019

Chris Taylor has been unable to complete his move to the club.

The 32-year-old midfielder agreed terms with the Bantams last week but, following a registration issue, the deal cannot be finalised.

There is uncertainty surrounding a FA Lancashire Cup fixture in which Taylor represented Barrow AFC, after the closure of the transfer window.

Despite Taylor never agreeing terms with the Cumbrian club, or signing any form of contract or registration, football’s governing bodies were unable to entirely guarantee the former Blackpool player’s eligibility.

Talks with the FA and EFL began last Thursday but neither organisation could confirm that points would not be deducted, should Taylor appear in Bradford City colours.

City’s director of communications, Ryan Sparks, said: "This is a disappointing situation for the club and, of course, for Chris, who we were looking forward to seeing in action.

"Chris agreed to join us more than a week ago, following a trial period, and was unaware that his appearance for Barrow could have any impact on him becoming a Bradford City player. Chris was of the impression he was playing as a trialist.

"We wish Chris the very best for the future and thank him for his efforts, firstly over the summer, and in recent weeks."
