BIG MATCH PREVIEW: MACCLESFIELD v CITY

25 October 2019

City return to Sky Bet League Two action with a visit to Macclesfield Town, tomorrow (Saturday).

The Bantams will look to return to winning ways in front of an expected near-sell-out away following, after a 2-1 defeat to Port Vale in midweek.

Daryl McMahon's men currently sit 14th in the league table, having won five matches, drawn five matches and lost five matches.

The Cheshire outfit will looking to build on a 22nd-place finish in a 2018/19 campaign where they memorably survived relagation from the EFL.

We have compiled a Big Match Preview packed full of everything you need to know ahead of the 3.00pm clash…

TEAM NEWS

City: Gary Bowyer has no fresh injury scares ahead of his side's visit to Moss Rose, after a troubling few weeks in the treatment room.

The City boss could again be able to call upon Dylan Connolly and Harry Pritchard who have been nursing respective calf and back problems.

James Vaughan is expected to keep his place in attack after netting in Tuesday's defeat.

Macclesfield: Macclesfield boss daryl McMahon will again be with the services of midfielder Jay Harris, who is set to return from injury.

Virgil Gomis could also be pushing for a starting place - in attack - though defender James Pearson is still sidelined through injury.

WHAT THE MANAGER SAID

Gary Bowyer: "Macclesfield is a difficult place to go - they have only lost one game, at home, in the league - this season.

"They were beaten on Tuesday evening, so will be looking to bounce back.

"We have to replicate Tuesday's intensity - from the second half - and employ our game on them."

LAST TIME OUT

City's last meeting with the Silkmen came in the first round of last season's Carabao Cup.
