Connor Wood declared his delight after a hard-earned 2-0 victory at home to Exeter City.

The Bantams bounced back against the Grecians, with a battling performance seeing them return to second place in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Wood was encouraged by the personality of the side, insisting they had to dig in deep to take all three points.

The left-back said: "Everyone was buzzing with that victory and I think you could tell, at the end of the game.

"It was a massive win and there were a lot of positives to take from it.

"The second-half performance was very good and was one we needed - after the Port Vale defeat and last week’s postponement.

"Every single one of us had to graft to make sure we got the three points and we were all delighted to be sending the supporters away with smiles on their faces."

Now back to winning ways, Wood is looking forward to putting another unbeaten run together, over the weeks and months ahead.

The 23-year-old stressed the importance of momentum, across a nine-month campaign, and believes it could prove pivotal over City’s busy winter schedule.

"There is a big opportunity for us to kick on and keep building momentum, now," the former Leicester City man added.

"We need to get another run going, get some more points on the board and put some more wins together.

"Over the course of the season, we are going to need a lot of things on our side and a lot of momentum.

"There is a tough, busy winter period coming up so we are hoping we can generate some momentum, to help us through that.

"We will be going into each game as it comes - with the same mentality - looking to pick up as many points as we can.

"We were rewarded for our hard work, against Exeter, and are looking forward to following it up - over the coming weeks."
