PYROTECHNICS WARNING
The club would like to remind supporters that carrying pyrotechnics into a football ground or using them is strictly prohibited.
Those found to be carrying or using pyrotechnics will face a long-term ban.
THE GROUND
Founded in 1905, Charlton Athletic did not move to The Valley until 1919 when the club found an abandoned sand and chalk pit in SE7. Lacking the money to fully develop the site, a large group of volunteer supporters dug out a flat area for the pitch at the bottom of the chalk pit and used the excavated material to build up makeshift stands.
In February 1938, an FA Cup tie against Aston Villa saw The Valley set its record attendance of 75,031. Apart from Wembley Stadium and Stamford Bridge, no London football ground has ever eclipsed this.
The stadium has the capacity of 27,111 and City supporters will be seated in the Jimmy Seed (South) Stand.
CASH MACHINE
Supporters needing to withdraw cash before entering The Valley can do so from the stadium’s cashpoint. This is located on the side of the Valley Superstore, just inside the main gates. The Valley’s cashpoint can get very busy on matchdays. There are also cashpoints located outside of Charlton train station on either side of the road.
TICKETS
Over 500 City supporters snapped up the club's allocation of tickets for the Saturday March 30 contest at The Valley (kick-off 3:00pm).
The club confirmed on Thursday that spectators can pay on the gate.

Disabled Fans will pay the age-related terracing prices and will qualify for a free carer subject to being in receipt of DLA or PIP at the mid or enhanced rate.
Any tickets which are not collected from the club before 4.00pm, on Thursday March 28, can be redeemed at The Valley on matchday.
GETTING THERE
By road…
The Valley’s postcode is SE7 8BL.
The Valley is located in the south-east of London on the south bank of the river Thames. The stadium lies about 6 kilometres from central London and 2 kilometres east of Greenwich.
A lot of the roads around The Valley have parking restrictions and those driving to the ground are, therefore, advised to plan their journeys in advance.
By rail…
Charlton station is the nearest train station to The Valley and is just a three-minute walk away. Charlton station is served by trains travelling from London Cannon Street, London Charing Cross, Dartford and Gillingham. Due to the ongoing works at London Bridge, we advise fans travelling by train to plan their journey in advance.
By bus…
London Buses 472, 486, 161, 177, 180 and 380 stop near to The Valley. Some of these can be boarded from North Greenwich tube station, which is around a 10-minute journey from The Valley.
By tube…
North Greenwich is the closest tube station to The Valley. Located right outside of the O2 Arena, North Greenwich is served by the Jubilee Line and also has a large bus stop.
CAR PARKING
There is street parking, but due to a local residents parking scheme, not in close vicinity to the ground or Charlton railway station. However, as you come off the A2 onto the A206, there is some street parking to be had on your right, in a couple of streets, before you reach the Rose of Denmark pub.
ENTERTAINMENT & REFRESHMENTS
The pubs…
One pub that welcomes visiting supporters is the Angerstein Hotel on Woolwich Road, which is around a 15-minute walk away from the Valley, going towards Greenwich/Woolwich - which has televised sports and also has accommodation.
To find this pub, as you come out of Charlton Station turn left and at the traffic lights, turn left and proceed along Woolwich Road. Go past the Rose of Denmark pub on your left, under a bridge and then straight across under the busy flyover. The Angerstein Hotel is just on the left.
The Anchor & Hope pub - which is also around a 15-minute walk away from the Valley Ground - is situated beside the Thames with some tables outside from which you can sit looking across the river. To find this pub then if you come out of Charlton Railway Station and turn left and then with the Antigallican Hotel on your right and go straight across the dual carriageway and into Hope and Anchor Lane. Just proceed straight up this road (going across one small roundabout) and at the end, turn left and the pub is just on the left.
Entertainment…
If you have a bit of time of your hands and want to experience a different way of going to a football match, then you could catch a River Bus that sails along the Thames from Westminster to Greenwich.
There are then a number of pubs and eating places in Greenwich itself and you can get one of a number of buses that run down the Woolwich Road to Charlton.
