VAUGHAN SETTLING IN WELL

3 July 2019

James Vaughan is delighted with how his first few weeks as a Bradford City player have gone.

The former Wigan Athletic man arrived last month as the latest addition to Gary Bowyer’s squad.

And the ex-Sunderland, Everton and Huddersfield striker has been encouraged by the "togetherness" of his team-mates - and the intensity of training.

He said: “Training has been tough so far, but good. I have really enjoyed my first week or so.

“There has been a lot of emphasis on team spirit and you can see the lads coming together already, which bodes well for the season ahead.

“We have done some really good work over the past week and are starting to get the footballs out a bit more now, which the boys always find more enjoyable.

“We are doing a lot of different things and working very hard. We are all really enjoying ourselves. It has been great."

Vaughan boasts a wealth of experience in the Premier League and EFL and is looking forward to establishing himself as a leader this season, both on and off the pitch.

The striker added: “I like being a leader out there on the pitch. I enjoy helping the other lads settle in.

“I am definitely one of the older heads, so it is a case of helping the team get through pre-season as well as we can.

“We have all been helping each other out, we just need to stick together and get through the rest of the work for us to be successful.

“It is going to be a long, hard season and we need a lot of team spirit.

"We have put a lot of focus on it so far throughout pre-season - and we are desperate to take it forward.”
