MATCHDAY GUIDE: CITY v LIVERPOOL FC

14 July 2019

As City prepare to pit themselves against six-time Champions League winners Liverpool FC – in aid of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation – we have compiled a helpful Matchday Guide to whet your appetite for the eagerly-anticipated 3.00pm contest!

We would firstly like to offer a warm welcome to Executive Match Sponsor, BIST Group; Big Match Sponsor, Garth Builders Ltd; Associate Match Sponsor, Bairstow Vickers Construction; Man of the Match Sponsor, LC Vehicle Hire; Match Ball Sponsor, Office Interiors and Match Programme Sponsor, Fawcett Mead!

THE CAUSE

Proceeds from the match will be directed towards the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, a charity set up by Stephen Darby and close friend Chris Rimmer.

City legend Darby was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last October, forcing his retirement from football aged just 30 - while Rimmer has been suffering since 2015.

Before the friendly, bucket collectors will be situated outside the Utilita Energy Stadium gathering donations for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

‘Friends of Bradford City’ members can also be found around the ground - over the course of the day - selling special-edition half-and-half scarves, in a movement dubbed ‘Scarves for Darbs’.

PYROTECHNICS & BEHAVIOUR

The club would like to remind supporters the possession or use of pyrotechnics inside a football ground is strictly prohibited.

Those found to be carrying or using pyrotechnics will face a long-term ban.

We would like to remind supporters it is a criminal offence to enter the pitch at any time.

Anyone who does so without permission can expect to face prosecution.

TICKETS

Tickets for the July 14 contest have officially SOLD OUT, with the Bantams expecting a record-breaking crowd when the six-time European champions are welcomed to West Yorkshire.

This means supporters WILL NOT be able to purchase tickets on the day of the game, neither from the ticket office nor on the turnstiles.

The ticket office at the ground will be open from 10.00am until 2.30pm on Sunday, enabling supporters to collect both Liverpool FC match tickets and ‘Our City’ 2019/20 season tickets.

If you have been unable to secure a ticket for this particular contest, you can still catch the action live via LFCTV, who will be providing a stream of the game live from BD8.

OUR OPPONENTS

Having just been crowned champions of Europe for the sixth time, the most of any British team, Liverpool FC are sure to provide the Bantams with a unique and exciting challenge.

Despite having a number of their world superstars still away on international duty, Jurgen Klopp is expected to name a strong line-up, handing Bantams fans a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness some of the country’s best players.

WIN WITH ‘SHIRT OFF MY BACK’

Our popular matchday competition will be back in place against the Reds giving supporters the opportunity to walk away with a top prize of either the man of the match-worn shirt or £100 in cash!

Not only will you win this unique prize (second prize £100 in cash) but you will also meet the man of the match after the game who will sign the shirt and present it to you.

Tickets for this competition can be bought for just £1 from sellers located inside and around the outside of the ground. The winner will be announced at half time.

ON THE PITCH

In order to avoid congestion and disappointment, supporters are advised to be in their seats for 2.30pm, at the latest.

As the players are led out – by none other than ‘Darbs’ himself – Tom Nowakowski from ‘The Good Citizens’ will be performing You'll Never Walk Alone live.

Half-time entertainment then comes courtesy of Bradford City Disability FC and Liverpool Disability FC, who will battle it out against each other in a game on the hallowed turf.

THE PARADER

A special edition of The Parader will celebrate the career of Bantams legend Stephen Darby, looking at some of his career highs with interviews from some of his closest colleagues and the man himself.

Also featuring in the programme are Phil Parkinson, Gary Jones, Filipe Morais, Stephen Warnock, Ricky Ravenhill and Chris Rimmer.

Programme sellers will be located outside the ground. Each copy will cost £5, with £1 per sale donated to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

THE CITY SHOP

The City Shop will be open from 10.00am until 2.30pm, offering supporters the opportunity to get their hands on City’s all-new 2019/20 away shirt – to be worn for the first time in this match – prior to kick-off.

Should you miss The City Shop’s open window, ‘Rapid Retail’ will be open in the JCT600 Stand (West) concourse for people still looking to purchase the away strip, complete with the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation logo on the shorts.

On behalf of everyone at Bradford City Football Club, enjoy the game!
