Richard O’Donnell believes City have set new standards ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Barnsley.

The Bantams have kept four clean sheets in their last five games with O’Donnell between the sticks, contributing to an impressive run which sees David Hopkin’s side top the form table.

The City stopper has spoken of the importance of “strong offensive and defensive efforts” in recent weeks.

O’Donnell said: “We have kept a lot of clean sheets, which comes from the work put in from all the lads on the pitch.

"We feel we are getting to the levels which we should be performing at each week.

“It is all about consistency and if we keep our standards high then results will take care of themselves.

“The front five players are chasing every ball down, which is making it more difficult for teams to break through.

“But it also allows us to break forward and we are seeing those results through the goals we have scored.

"Recent opponents have not been able to get quality balls into the area because we have been pressing on the front foot.

“We have set new standards of what to expect when we walk out on the pitch.

"The team is in a good place and it shows through the positivity within camp.”

The Bantams will be backed by at least 3,200 supporters in their latest Sky Bet League One outing - at Oakwell.

And O’Donnell was keen to stress the importance of City’s travelling support.

“We didn’t start the season how we would have liked – everybody knows that,” he added.

“However, people can see now what the gaffer is trying to do with the team and are responding to it.

“It is up to us to keep that consistency and keep people wanting to come and watch Bradford City.

"We are taking a lot of fans down to Barnsley. The away following has been unbelievable and we always get strong numbers - home and away.

“To ensure it continues, we have to perform and win games, which we are confident of doing.”
