HOPKIN: 'THE GOALS WILL COME'

David Hopkin insists “goals will come” as his Bantams prepare to take on Walsall.

City have not scored in their previous three fixtures, despite grabbing eight goals last month.

However, following a 0-0 draw against Plymouth on Saturday, Hopkin believes his side can push on against the Saddlers.

The City manager said: “The Plymouth game showed how well we can play, as we came away disappointed we didn’t get the win.

“We will travel down to Walsall with the same squad we had available for us last week. Everybody who was in contention then will be available for selection again.

“Based on our performances, we have been unlucky over the last few weeks. We should have picked up more points than we have.

“We are creating good chances and have players who we know can score.

“If we keep playing the same way, things will turn for us. The players are in good spirits and have been training well this week in preparation for what will be a tough game.”

Victory could see City climb as high as 18th on the league ladder, leapfrogging Saturday’s opponents in the process.

And Hopkin says his Bantams have what it takes to see off a Walsall side which hasn’t won since January.

He added: "We still have a fantastic chance to remain in the division.

“We have dragged five or six teams down into a position similar to ourselves and need to take advantage of that this weekend.

"It is a massive game for both clubs but we will play without fear and try to get three points to jump above them in the table.

“Mentally and physically, we are in a good place. Our form has not been great but we have been playing well and have been unlucky with some decisions which have gone against us.

“Everyone is focused on the task at hand and we know what we have to do. We will remain positive and are looking forward to the game.”
