Eleven City season-ticket holders are already en route to the Northern Commercials Stadium for Saturday’s match against Fleetwood Town – and it is all for a good cause!
This morning, Jamie Dodd and 10 others set off on foot from Fleetwood’s Highbury Stadium in loving memory of Jamie’s brother, Sam, who sadly lost his life to meningitis 20 years ago.
The 67-mile long journey will take approximately three days. The group departed from Fleetwood this morning and are aiming to walk 30 miles to finish at Blackburn for the evening.
They will leave Blackburn on Friday morning and finish at Halifax – following another 30-mile day trip.
From Halifax, the group will walk to the Northern Commercials Stadium on Saturday morning in order to arrive in time kick-off.
To complete their amazing achievement, they will walk around the pitch and meet the Bantams supporters.
Dodd said: "It will mean a lot to us all to finish our walk on the pitch at Bradford City, as we are all big fans.
“As a fan it’s not often that you get the chance to walk out onto the pitch and it will be a fantastic way to end what I am sure will be a very tough two-and-a-half days!”
Alongside Jamie on the walk, there will be Karl Emmett, Luke Holden, Paul Dignam, Max Pemberton, Liam Stewart, Aaron Peel, James Metcalfe, Phil Marson, Paul Crowther and Jason Emmett.
The group are fully prepared for the journey, as Jamie’s stepdad, Jamie, will be driving a van with everyone’s bags, plenty of food and water to meet them at checkpoints along the way.
Everyone at the club wishes the team the best of luck and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
