OPPOSITION GUIDE: MANSFIELD TOWN

City host their final match of 2019 tomorrow, welcoming Mansfield Town to the Utilita Energy Stadium (3.00pm). 

The Stags currently sit 19th in Sky Bet League Two, having recently undergone a change of manager. 

We have compiled an Opposition Guide, packed full of detailed information on tomorrow’s visitors...

SUMMER TRANSFER ACTIVITY

The One Call Stadium side spent the summer adding eight new players to their ranks, with a further seven departing. 

Ins: James Clarke (Burnley), Dion Donohue (Portsmouth), Nicky Maynard (Bury), Aidan Stone (Burnley), Kellan Gordon (Derby County), Conor Shaughnessy (Leeds United, loan), Andy Cook (Walsall), Oladapo Afolayan (West Ham United). 

Outs: Ben Turner (Notts County), Lewis Gibbens (Boston United, loan), Zayn Hakeem (Bradford (Park Avenue)), Dion Donohue (Swindon Town), Jason Law (Leek Town, loan), Will Atkinson (Port Vale), David Mirfin (retired).

ONES TO WATCH

Nicky Maynard:

An experienced operator with a wealth of EFL experience, Maynard joined Mansfield in the summer following a prolific season at Bury. 

The 33-year-old striker has also seen success at Bristol City and Crewe Alexandra - where he began his professional career. 

Otis Khan:

Talented midfielder Khan began his youth career at Manchester United, before graduating through Sheffield United's academy. 

The 34-year-old spent two years at Yeovil Town between 2016 and 2018, before moving to the One Call Stadium. 

Danny Rose: 

A Yorkshireman, Rose has made over 150 appearances for the Stags since signing for them in 2016. 

The forward began his career at his hometown club Barnsley - where he is a product of the academy - before moving to Bury in 2014. 

Andy Cook:

Another striker, Cook moved to Mansfield in the summer having spent last season at Walsall. 

The 29-year-old is a former England 'C' international and has also served spells at the likes of Carlisle United, Grimsby Town and Tranmere Rovers. 

THE MANAGER

Recently-appointed Graham Coughlan took the reins at Mansfield earlier this month following the sacking of John Dempster. 

The 45-year-old spent a season and a half at the Bristol Rovers helm, who he had guided to fourth place in Sky Bet League One at the time of his departure. 

As a player, the Irishman represented the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Shrewsbury Town, Rotherham United, Southend United and Sheffield Wednesday, as a defender. 

THE CAPTAIN

Powerful defender Krystian Pearce is one of Mansfield's longest-serving players, having signed for the club in the summer of 2015. 

At 29, the Barbados international has represented the likes of Huddersfield Town, Notts County, Torquay United and Scunthorpe United. 

The former England youth international began his professional career at his hometown club Birmingham City, where he is an academy graduate. 

LAST TIME OUT

In their previous fixture - on Boxing Day - the Stags battled back with two late goals to sercure a draw at home to Port Vale.
