Gary Bowyer has spoken of his side’s focus ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Newport County.

The Bantams entertain Michael Flynn’s men with only Sky Bet League Two action still to play for, this season.

Bowyer insists his team are working hard in training and will be ready for what what he expects to be a tough encounter.

He said: “We would have like to have progressed in the cup competitions, but we have to concentrate fully on the league, now,

“It is important we regain the rhythm we had in the league before we played our cup games and had a few matches postponed.

“We are very focussed to keep on working and improving, which is extremely encouraging.

“The lads are going about our business very well, every day, in training and applying themselves admirably.

“Newport are a physical side with a lot of experience among their ranks.

“We know we cannot just afford to turn up and expect to get a result, like with every team in this division. We are well aware of the challenge they will pose.”

Tomorrow’s affair spells the first time City will have contested a league match at the Utilita Energy Stadium in over a month, and Bowyer is relishing their return to BD8.

The Bantams boss is looking forward to feeling the support from the home faithful and is confident this can prove pivotal against the Exiles.

Bowyer added: “It is always good to get back out in front of our fantastic home supporters.

“The impact they have had - so far, this season, home and away - has been immense and we will need them again, against Newport.

“It has been a while since our last home game and we cannot wait to be back out there.

“We are full of confidence and are still in a great position. Knowing this division, it is still in its early stages and will change a lot more.

“It is important we keep working and being competitive to maintain the standards we set.”
