BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v MANSFIELD

28 December 2019

The Bantams contest their final match of 2019 tomorrow, welcoming Mansfield Town to the Utilita Energy Stadium.

Gary Bowyer's men look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches in the 3.00pm encounter.

The visiting Stags currently sit 19th in Sky Bet League Two, having narrowly missed out on promotion, last term.

We have compiled a Big Match Preview full of in-depth pre-match analysis - ahead of the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Gary Bowyer's side could still be suffering from the illness which has swept the camp - over the festive period.

Captain James Vaughan and full-back Adam Henley could return to the starting 11, having not started either of City's last two matches.

Bowyer will also be hoping to be able to pick Jake Reeves and Harry Pritchard, after the pair missed the Bantams' Boxing Day trip to Carlisle United.

Mansfield: Graham Coughlan could name an unchanged starting 11 for his side's visit to West Yorkshire.

They newly-appointed Mansfield boss has named the same side in both of his two opening games at the helm.

Injured due Hayden White and Kellan Gordon will be hoping to return.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Gary Bowyer: "Mansfield have just had a change in manager so will have to quickly pick up from where they left, and we will have to be aware of that.

"When you look at their squad and the quality they have, we know it will be another tough challenge.

"But, we are back at home and, hopefully, we can make all our possession and opportunities - which we have recently had - count."

Graham Coughlan: "We have a very busy schedule. It is hectic, chaotic and game after game.

"There are far more positives that I have seen over the last two games and five or six training sessions than I thought, when I came in.

"We will be okay, but I want to win football matches. I am not here to draw games or hang around 18th in the table – and I am sure the players will echo that sentiment."
