Bradford City are delighted to announce the appointment of David Hopkin as the club’s new head coach.
The 48-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the Bantams and will begin work today, as City gear up for Saturday’s trip to Blackpool.
As a player, including a spell with City, the former Scotland international plied his trade with Chelsea, Leeds and Crystal Palace before eventually retiring in 2003.
Hopkin will take training for the first time today, after this morning meeting with players and staff.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Bantams and cannot wait to get started,” said the former Premier League player.
“This is a huge opportunity for me. We have a talented squad and I am looking forward to working with the players and staff.
“The club is ambitious and so am I. Although my time as a player here was cut short by injury, I enjoyed my stay and took away some great memories.
“Our supporters are extremely passionate and I want to give them a team and performances they can be proud of.”
Chairman Edin Rahic added: “We are very pleased to welcome David to the club.
“David received a great deal of admiration for his success in Scotland, with Livingston.
“He is very passionate about our club and is excited to be in charge.”
Assistant coaches Martin Drury and Greg Abbott will support the new Bantams boss in preparing the team for Saturday afternoon’s Sky Bet League One game against Blackpool.
Hopkin will make a decision on the makeup of his backroom team in the near future.
