HOPKIN: 'WE HAVE TO RISE TO THE CHALLENGE'

David Hopkin has challenged his injury-hit Bantams to rise to the challenge this afternoon when City face Gillingham.

George Miller and Ryan McGowan are suspended, with a host of others sidelined.

Alex Jones and Kelvin Mellor became the latest players to be added to Hopkin’s injury list earlier this week.

And late fitness tests will be required in order to finalise today’s team news.

Hopkin said: “We are very much down to the bare bones and three under-18s have been included in the travelling squad.

“We are where we are, in a pretty tough spot. Whoever plays against Gillingham will have to give us everything.

“It is a big game and we need to go there and try and get three points.

“It is not a case of us against the world but our challenge is made harder losing players to injury and suspension.

“I have had to implement five or six different formations and have only managed to pick the same team twice since I have been here, which sums up where we are at just now.

“Gillingham are with us, battling away down at the wrong end of the table, and they will be difficult to beat at home.

“We will have to rise to the occasion and do all we can to get a big result. It will kick us on, with several players close to returning, going into a difficult month of fixtures.”

Admission can be gained at the turnstiles today, with tickets price at £22 (adults), £18 (seniors), £8 (students) and £8 (juniors).
