The Club are delighted to announce Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People as it's second charity partner.
In Summer 2018, the Club announced a new and exciting opportunity for all local charities that would give them the chance to work alongside Bradford City and host a bucket collection at one of the five selected fixtures throughout the 2018/19 season.
Every penny raised at the bucket collection will go to the charity, to help them fund the amazing work they do.
Voting for the second fixture has closed and the Club are delighted to announce that Martin House Hospice received the most votes and will be hosting a bucket collection on Saturday 24th November (Bradford City v Oxford United).
Martin House provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire in their hospice and the community.
The hospice is a place where children, young people and families go to stay to find support, rest and practical help in a friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.
But its care doesn’t stop there. Its community team support families in hospitals and their own homes by getting involved in advanced care planning to ensure that families are able to spend quality time together and make informed, supported decisions about their child’s care.
The care service also offers bereavement support to brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents and families of children who have died from life-limiting conditions through one to one sessions or as part of a group.
The charity has a special link with the city as a third of the 575 children, young people and families it supports live in the Bradford District.
There are over 3,000 children and young people living with life-limiting conditions in West, North and East Yorkshire and the charity is keen to reach more families.
Not only do Martin House have a strong link with the city, but with Oxford too. Rev Richard Seed was a serving clergyman at Helen House in Oxford, the first Children’s Hospice in the world. He moved to Yorkshire and recognised that a similar service was needed and opened Martin House in 1987.
As well as Billy Bantam, you will see Martin House’s mascot, Marty Bear, on the Northern Commercials pitch.
