HOPKIN: 'WE ARE RELISHING THE CHALLENGE'

27 November 2018

David Hopkin says his Bantams are relishing the challenge ahead of tonight’s Sky Bet League One battle with Luton Town, which gets underway at 7.45pm.

Following Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over Oxford United, City travel to Kenilworth Road looking to make it four games unbeaten.

And Hopkin is hoping the Bantams can kick on - on away soil.

He said: “Every team in this division poses you different questions and Luton come into this with fantastic home form.

“Of nine games played there, they have won seven and drawn two. We know it will be a tough ask but we go there with confidence and we will enjoy it.

“We need to go and try keep a clean sheet for as long as possible. These are so important to us now, as we are improving as a defensive unit.

“We know they are going to come at us, so it is important to ensure we defend well for the whole 90 minutes.

“It is a test for the whole team and Luton like to attack. We need to make sure we are set up to deal with that, while offering our own challenges for them.”

Saturday meant it was four points from a potential six recorded in Sky Bet League One, with City recording a draw at Peterborough.

Hopkin insists performances have improved in recent weeks and is hoping to see more of the same.

“Over the last three or four weeks, performances have got better and better,” he added.

“Going to Peterborough and getting a point - and then to get three points on Saturday - was encouraging for us.

“Four points out of six in the last two league games is fantastic for us. We also navigated a tough game against Aldershot in the cup.

“You wouldn’t think we are a side bottom of League One if you saw the mood around camp.

“If we keep working hard and keep being difficult to beat then we always have a chance of winning games.

“It has been a long four or five weeks. We have been playing reasonably well and, in some games, we have been a little unlucky. We knew results would come.

“The fans played a major part in helping us get the win on Saturday - and everyone was very much together.”
