The Bantams have swooped to complete their second signing of the day with the loan capture of exciting attacker Jack Payne from Premier League side Huddersfield Town.

Payne, 23, has put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal with the Bantams, meaning the playmaker will remain at the Northern Commercials Stadium for the entire 2018/2019 campaign.

Payne's move to Valley Parade comes on the same day that the Bantams also confirmed the signing of fellow loanee attacker George Miller from Middlesbrough (HERE).

The two deals for City makes it eleven signings in total for the club so far this summer.

Speaking about the Payne signing, Head Coach Michael Collins said: "I've seen Jack play live on a number of occasions and he has always caught my eye.

"He's very intelligent and is always looking to get on the the ball and make things happen.

"No matter what league you play in you need players who can unpick defences, and Jack certainly comes under that category.

"He also comes with a sound footballing education from the time he has spent working with David Wagner.

"With both Jack and George we have done extensive research and received glowing reports on their characters and mentality.

"For me, that is just as important as what they bring on the football side."

Despite only being in his early twenties, Payne has quickly established a reputation as one of the most talented attackers to feature in League One in recent seasons.

With an eye for goal and the ability to create chances for others, Payne can easily feature in more than one position in the final third of the pitch.

The attacking midfielder started his career at fellow League One side Southend United, coming through the youth system to make 88 appearances for the first team, scoring 17 times.

After picking up the club's Player of the Year award, a move to then Championship club Huddersfield followed in June 2016.

Payne played his part in the Yorkshire side's promotion to the Premier League during the 2016/2017 season, featuring in 23 league games and scoring two goals, including the winner at Newcastle United.

Loaned out by Terriers boss David Wagner last summer, Oxford won the race for Payne's signature and he joined the Yellows on a temporary deal.

He starred at the Kassam Stadium, scoring seven times and claiming nine assists in all competitions, before returning to Huddersfield in January.

Payne was quickly snapped up by Blackburn Rovers soon after, with the talented performer featuring 18 times for the Lancashire side on their way to second place in League One last season.

In the last three years, Payne has been promoted three times - from League Two with Southend in 2015, out of League One with Blackburn Rovers in 2018, and from the Championship with Huddersfield in 2017.
