DEVELOPMENT SQUAD DRAW AT WALSALL

20 February 2018

City's Development Squad played out a goalless draw away to Walsall in their latest Central League fixture this Tuesday (20 February 2018).

The game at the Birmingham County FA's Ray Hall Lane facility saw Jacob Hanson make his return to action after recovering from a recent bout of glandular fever.

Hanson managed to play sixty-five minutes in his first competitive match since City's Sky Bet League One fixture with Northampton Town in the middle of last month.

Fellow pros Daniel Devine, Callum Gunner, Kai Breunker and Joel Grodowski also featured for City against the Saddlers.

The quartet were all given the full ninety minutes in the second string game.

Grodowski went closest to scoring for the Bantams, hitting the side-netting via a lob from distance in the first period.

The young German striker also had efforts blocked by Saddlers 'keeper Brandon Ganley and defender Kory Roberts after the break.

At the other end, City shot-stopper George Sykes-Kenworthy produced smart saves to deny Maz Kouhyar and Callum Cockerill-Mollett during the contest.

The nearest Walsall went to breaking deadlock arguably came in the opening half when Tobias Hayles-Docherty rattled the woodwork with a fierce drive.
