BANTAMS SPREAD FESTIVE CHEER

19 December 2018

Yesterday David Hopkin’s Bantams made trips to Bradford’s inner-city hospitals to spread some festive cheer.

Players and staff visited the children’s ward at the Bradford Royal Infirmary and the elderly ward at St Luke’s Hospital.

As the countdown to Christmas continues, gifts were delivered by the Bantams to patients young and old.

City have made similar visits to the Bradford Royal Infirmary in recent years - and this December added St Luke’s to the list.

This visit follows the Bantams’ partnering of the ‘Spread Some Sparkle For Axl’ initiative, which was officially launched across Bradford’s hospitals last week.

Media and PR manager Ryan Sparks said: “It was fantastic for the players and staff to have the opportunity to visit the BRI and St Luke’s.

“Christmas is a great time for everyone to come together and we met a number of fans while visiting the wards.

“It is about giving something back to the local community, which supports the club in such a fantastic way.

“While many patients will be home in time for Christmas, some will spend the festive period in hospital and it was great to put smiles on faces.”

Hayley Collis, head of fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, added: “The players had lots of time for all our patients and staff, chatting to everyone and having their photo taken.

"It really cheered everyone up and it was lovely to see so many excited faces among the team’s young fans.

"Thank you to Bradford City for supporting its local NHS.”

To mark 70 years of the National Health Service - and as a ‘thank you’ - we are giving NHS staff the opportunity to purchase tickets for Saturday’s game against Scunthorpe United for just £5!

These tickets must be purchased from the Northern Commercials Stadium’s ticket office, during normal opening hours. NHS staff can purchase a maximum of two tickets, for £5 each, giving them a chance to bring a friend or family member.
