CLUB STATEMENT | GREG ABBOTT

14 April 2018

Bradford City would like to inform supporters that Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott will be taking a period of time away away from the club as he undergoes surgery after being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.

Greg and the club have known about the cancer for a number of weeks and whilst he naturally expects to be back at work immediately on the advice of medical staff he'll be convalescing away from the club.

We all of course wish him well on a speedy recovery but at the same time ask you to respect his privacy over the next few weeks until his return.

On behalf of all Bradford City fans he wanted to pass on this message:-

'Having known about my condition for the past 5 to 6 weeks I have prepared a list of players for the manager and chairman in every position ahead of next season. I take my role very seriously and am passionate about developing Bradford City on and off the field. It's my club. It may have been a tough season but recruitment is an ongoing process and actually it never stops, neither do I.'

'Reluctantly I'll be taking some time away from the club but I'll be back. Rest assured I have planned everything in my absence from pre season friendly fixtures, games for scouts to watch, players to observe and chase so we'll be well placed come the end of the season.'

Chairman Edin Rahic said, 'We will support Greg and his family in every way possible! We will welcome Greg back as soon as he is fit to do so'.

In Greg's absence the day to day recruitment process will be supported by senior scout Ian Miller and Under 18's & talent coach Martin Drury.
