CITY TO HOST 'SLEEP OUT' EVENT

2 October 2017

City fans are being urged to sleep out at the Northern Commercials Stadium to raise funds for a charity that helps the homeless.

Sleep Out Bradford is looking for Bantams followers to swap their beds for sleeping bags for one night to support Centrepoint.

The special sleep-out event will be held at Valley Parade on Thursday 9 November between 7:00pm and 7:00am.

It will include food and entertainment to help those involved settle in for their night out.

Supporters will sleep out in the concourse area of the Club's JCT600 Main Stand.

A similar event at Bradford Bulls' Odsal Stadium last year raised £30,000.

Centrepoint is the UK's leading youth homelessness charity and works with more than 150 homeless young people in Bradford every day.

They provide accommodation and support to help people turn their lives around by gaining essential life skills, such as tackling physical and mental health issues and moving into education and/or employment.

Faye Edmondson, Centrepoint's Fundraising Manager, said: "Sleep Out is a thought-provoking challenge that everyone should try.

"It would be impossible to replicate the true terror of spending a night on the streets with nowhere to go - but you will feel the cold and experience the discomfort homeless people have to endure.

"Sleep Out is a lot of fun but there is a serious side to it. The money we raise will help support vulnerable and homeless young people gain the skills and confidence they need to find work or a return to education."

City's Chief Operating Officer, James Mason, who will be taking part in the event himself, said: "I would urge Bradford City supporters to come and show their support for the charity.

"Come along and join in with a number of our members of staff taking part.

"It will give us a chance to show our solidarity with our friends in the city who find themselves without permanent accommodation.

"Holding it at that time of year (November) will also give us a realistic understanding of what so many people will go through in their daily lives.

"We hope the event will help to raise the profile of the charity and its work, and I would urge people to take part."
