PITCH RENOVATION WORK TAKING PLACE

30 May 2017

Pitch renovation work at the Northern Commercials Stadium has now begun.

Contractors working on behalf of the club started on the Valley Parade playing surface towards the end of last week, beginning with a weed-killing procedure.

The work to improve and redevelop City's pitch is expected to continue throughout this week.

The pitch is currently undergoing a process known as 'koroing'.

Koroing is where the top layer of the pitch is removed to help with drainage and grass growth.

After this, roughly 116 tones of fibre sand is scheduled to be laid.

Fibre sand is normally used to help with drainage as well while also improving the stability of the turf itself.

The pitch will then be re-seeded and left to grow again ahead of the forthcoming 2017/18 campaign.
