SHIPLEY BANTAMS LEND THEIR SUPPORT AGAIN

8 March 2017

City Supporters' Club Shipley Bantams have once again shown their true commitment to the club this season with a donation towards improving the facilities at the Northern Commercials stadium.

In the past, the group have helped the Bantams with the purchase of a new sprinkler system and last season's upgrade to 'box nets'.

Shipley Bantams have also sponsored numerous players and games down the years, including last Saturday's home fixture with Peterborough United. This year's donation will amongst other things go towards the purchase of an artificial lighting rig or 'Grow lights'.

Grow lights are used to help artificially replicate sunlight, stimulating grass to grow even during periods of bad weather or darkness.

Steve Gorringe, Travel Club Organiser at Shipley Bantams, said: "Shipley Bantams Supporters and Travel club are proud to support Bradford City Football Club in any way we can.

"Since 2004, we have been able to sponsor games, players and help towards projects such as the new box nets, pitch drainage and a sprinkler system for the pitch.

"Our other donations over the years have been to charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer, Tickled Pink and, of course, the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit.

"With the obvious problems the club have with the pitch we took the opportunity this season to help fund the lighting rig, which we hope will in some way improve the playing surface.

"We are based at the Woodbottom WMC on Baildon Bridge and along with our preferred choice of coach company, City Travel of Cross Roads near Keighley hope for many more successful seasons in the future."

City's Chief Operating Officer James Mason added: "The Shipley Bantams along with all our supporter groups are invaluable to this club.

"They are the lifeblood of Bradford City and their generous support never ceases to amaze me.

"I was with the Shippers down at Cheltenham and Oxford earlier this year. Both long trips on mid week nights but without fail they are there.

"The money they raise is always well received and always put to good use. They deserve the recognition they get and other fans need to know just how much money our supporter's groups do contribute to the club to make it better for all."
