Two goals in just five minutes towards the start of the second period earned Stuart McCall's Bantams a professional victory against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.

Hosts Coventry will have been buoyed pre-match following the appointment of new manager Mark Robins during the week, but goals from Alex Jones and Jordy Hiwula after the break made it back-to-back wins for McCall's men.

A low-key opening half saw little in the way of goal-scoring chances, although Charlie Wyke did hit the post with a header from a Mark Marshall cross.

McCall's side roared into a commanding position at the beginning of the second period, moving into a two-goal lead before the game had reached the hour mark.

Jones - a first half substitute for the inured Alex Gilliead - pounced from a Tony McMahon corner to volley home from close range six minutes after the restart.

With City clearly enjoying a purple patch in the game, skipper Romain Vincelot then headed onto the crossbar on his first appearance back at former club Coventry.

Hiwula doubled the Bantams' advantage shortly afterwards with his twelfth goal of the season when he latched onto a Jones pass to fire past Coventry 'keeper Lee Burge from just inside the box.

After his assist and a goal, Jones was sadly forced off with a dead leg later in the half.

The victory was City's third win in their last four fixtures and moved them up to fourth in the Sky Bet League One table.
