FORMER CITY 'KEEPER NAMED IN ENGLAND U21s SQUAD

6 June 2017

Former Bantams 'keeper Jordan Pickford has been named in England Under 21s' squad for this summer's Euro Finals in Poland.

Pickford has been selected as one of three goalkeepers in England's 23-man squad for the tournament later this month.

The Young Lions will kick off their campaign with an opening game against reigning U21s European champions Sweden on Friday 16 June 2017.

England will then face Slovakia on Monday 19 June before rounding off the group stage against hosts Poland on Thursday 22 June.

Pickford, who enjoyed an eye-catching campaign with Sunderland in the Premier League last time out, spent most of the 2014/2015 season on loan at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

England U21s are currently led by Bradford-born manager Aidy Boothroyd.

Boothroyd took on the role last year following Gareth Southgate's promotion up to manager of the senior Three Lions squad.

Former City goalkeeper coach Tim Dittmer is also on England's coaching staff for the tournament.
