McCALL | WE ARE LEARNING ALL THE TIME

18 July 2017

Bantams boss Stuart McCall reckons he will learn even more about his squad over the next couple of weeks due to the glut of games that is to come.

After a week in Austria and Germany, McCall's men will now play friendlies against Guiseley (Tuesday) and Eccleshill United (Wednesday) within the space of the next twenty-four hours or so.

City will then finish the week with a behind-closed-doors match on Friday and a return to the Northern Commercials Stadium on Saturday for the visit of Sunderland.

The Bantams will be back at Valley Parade the following Wednesday (26 July) to welcome Newcastle United, while City could also arrange another behind-closed-doors game for the day before.

McCall said: "These games coming up are obviously important for fitness but we are still learning about the new lads all the time.

"We've already seen the quality of Chicks (Adam Chicksen) down the left. You could see the way he linked up with Lawsy (Nicky Law) in the first half on Saturday (vs TV Echterdingen).

"We also feel we know what Jake Reeves is all about. He likes to get on the ball and get things going.

"What we do have to look at, however, is our attacking options.

"What is Dom Poleon's best position? Is he better in a front three or up top in a two?

"Equally, Paul Taylor can play on the left, in a front three, in the hole, and even up front as a pair.

"Shay McCartan can play in the number ten role and in a front two or front three.

"If you ask the lads themselves, they'll say they will play in any of the positions but we want to see where they are best suited.

"Omari (Patrick) has also come in recently and done well. He can play in more than one position.

"We are learning about them all the time - we certainly have plenty of options in attack."
