After a low-key first period from the Bantams, McCall's men found themselves trailing at the break thanks to Alex Revell's header five minutes before the interval.

Aided by the half-time substitutions of Mark Marshall and James Hanson, however, City came roaring back into the contest to completely dominate the second period.

Marshall drew City level with a fierce angled drive from inside the box midway through the half. 

The substitute winger then turned provider just four minutes before the end of normal time when his low cross was converted by Jordy Hiwula from close range.

90+2min: Taylor's floated free-kick into the box from deep isn't cleanly held by Doyle but Darby is on hand to kick clear.

90min: There will be two minutes of time added on at the end of the match.

89min: Marshall's curling drive from just outside the box whistles narrowly over Smith's bar.

81min: McCourt leads a threatening Northampton counter-attack. The substitute midfielder tries to play Revell through on goal but the striker is forced wide and the attack eventually ends when Wylde crosses behind.

80min: Meredith's cross into the box is headed on by Dieng, the ball drops to Darby but his shot is blocked from close range by Buchanan.

80min: Law's threatening cross into the six yard box is crucially hooked clear in the middle by Zakuani with Hiwula and Hanson looking to pounce.

72min: SUB - Northampton bring on Jak McCourt for O'Toole.

67min: Hiwula's shot from outside the area is held by Smith.

66min: Cullen forces a tremendous save from Smith! Law plays Cullen into space just outside the area and the loanee midfielder fires in a fierce strike that Smith does well to push around the post.

62min: With City pushing forward for an equaliser, Northampton break forward on a threatening two-on-two counter-attack. Wylde looks to play the ball through to Revell but the striker is flagged offside.

58min: SUB - Northampton bring on Gregg Wylde for Anderson.

57min: The packed away end that City are now attacking towards appeal for a penalty when Hoskins appear to possibly tangle with Meredith but nothing is given as referee Mr Duncan allows play to continue.

56min: Meredith's low drive into the six yard box is kicked away by Zakuani with Hiwula looking to pounce behind him.

56min: Hanson's great first time pass plays Hiwula into plenty of space down City's left flank. Hiwula drives forward into the penalty area but his eventual shot on goal is blocked out by Zakuani.

53min: Dieng sends a header over the bar from Law's corner.

50min: Hanson's downward header from Law's corner is controlled on the line and then hooked clear by Taylor.

47min: Hiwula drives into the box with purpose before firing in a left-footed angled drive that Smith does well to push behind.

46min: Northampton restart the match.

HT SUB - Northampton also bring on Zander Diamond for Phillips at the break.

HT SUBS - The Bantams bring on James Hanson and Mark Marshall for Vuckic and Vincelot before the restart. Darby will take over the captain's armband following Vincelot's departure.

45min: The ball bounces up into Vuckic's path just outside the box but the Slovenian's first time effort flashes wide of goal.

43min: Meredith's cross from the Bantams left actually looks to be heading into the far top corner of Smith's goal, with the Northampton 'keeper needing to thrust out a hand to tip the ball away.

41min: Doyle's attempted clearance from inside his own box is blocked by the out-stretched leg of Revell. The ball bounces up in the air but Doyle is able to just gather up ahead of the Cobblers striker.

38min: Law drives forward deep into Northampton territory before finding Hiwula in a wide position just inside the box. Hiwula turns inside onto his right foot before firing in a low drive that is easily gathered by Smith.

37min: Doyle produces a brilliant reaction save to deny Richards from a quickly-taken Northampton free-kick! With City getting ready in the middle, Taylor quickly whips the ball into the box from a wide free-kick. Richards is first onto the delivery but his glancing header is repelled by a fine save low to his left from Doyle before the City 'keeper gathers up at the second attempt.

32min: Vuckic's threatening delivery from wide beats Northampton defender Gabriel Zakuani in the middle, with the lurking Hiwula just behind him. Hiwula looks to control the ball from close range but the curling cross seems to skip up off the surface and bounces out for a goal kick.

30min: Vuckic looks to get a shot away from just inside the box after Lewin Nyatanga lets the ball roll away from his possession. The ball is deflected forwards towards Smith's goal as Vuckic gets his heads up and Smith has to race off his line to volley clear with Jordy Hiwula looking to pounce from close range.

28min: Dieng tries his luck from outside the area and the drive goes not too far over Smith's bar.

25min: Richards lays the ball back to Revell but the Northampton attacker's rising drive from outside the box sails comfortably over Doyle's bar.

23min: A neat flick from Aaron Phillips plays Hoskins into space down Northampton's right flank. Hoskins fizzes the ball dangerously across the six yard box but Nathaniel Knight-Percival is on hand to vitally kick clear ahead of Revell.

22min: Vincelot's lofted ball in behind is headed back towards his own goal by Hoskins. The header initially doesn't appear to have the required pace on it to get back to 'keeper Adam Smith but the Cobblers' shot-stopper is out bravely at the feet of the lurking James Meredith, narrowly beating the roaming City left-back to the ball.

17min: Alex Revell's headed flick on from a big kick forward from Adam Smith finds Anderson. The Northampton midfielder fires early with a shot from just outside the box and the low effort crashes into the side-netting by Doyle's near post.

16min: Nicky Law plays Haris Vuckic in with a clear sight of goal but the Slovenian's progress is halted slightly by two recovering Northampton defenders. Vuckic turns away from the two players but Northampton have enough players back by this stage and the attack eventually dies out when the loanee attacker fouls John-Joe O'Toole.

15min: Taylor's following corner eventually drops at the feet of Hoskins inside the area but his shot is deflected behind.

15min: Matt Taylor whips the ball back into the box after his initial corner delivery is cleared by City. The in-swinging cross is certainly threatening and Stephen Darby needs to be on hand to glance the ball behind off his head.

3min: YELLOW CARD - Romain Vincelot is booked for catching Sam Hoskins late with a tackle as the Northampton midfielder looked to burst forward into space down the Cobblers' right flank.

1min: Marc Richards' searching ball into the box from distance picks out Paul Anderson over by the far side but the former Bantams midfielder's header drops comfortably wide of Colin Doyle's goal.
