CITY LEGENDS HELP TO CELEBRATE THE START OF THE FESTIVE SEASON

11 December 2017

City legends, sponsors, staff and supporters joined together to celebrate the start of the festive season with the club's 'Legends Christmas Lunch' at the Northern Commercials Stadium last Friday.

The day before the action-packed 4-3 league encounter with Rochdale, as many as fourteen former City players - including the likes of Gary Jones, Greg Abbott and Wayne Jacobs - were on show for the Xmas lunch within the Hendrie Suite at Valley Parade.

Along with those legendary City trio, Ian Cooper, Ian Ormondroyd, Jimmy Cuthbertson, Joe Cooke, John Hawley, Alan Gilliver, Derek Stokes, Terry Dolan, Don Hutchins, Dave Evans and Mick Wood were also on hand to bring some early Christmas cheer.

Guests were treated to a festive two-course meal and an entertaining after-dinner chat with Jones.

City's popular former skipper joined Chief Operating Officer James Mason on the stage to reminisce about his time at Valley Parade and the club's memorable 2012/2013 campaign.

On top of hearing from Jones, those present were able to bid on some rare items of memorabilia, including a signed match-worn captain's armband from Romain Vincelot and shirt from Charlie Wyke.

The club would like to thank the Idle Draper micro pub for their sponsorship of the lunch.

The event was the latest organised by the club following the official launch of 'The Legends' group back in March 2016.

The Legends group was created to allow former Bantams the opportunity to keep in touch with the club and, equally, to give supporters the chance to rekindle fond memories with their favourite players from the past.

Legends events also helps to raise funds for the club's youth and academy set-up.
